SYNOPSIS

ZAKI is an Egyptian who has been living in Milan for a long time. He owns a small restaurant where he sells falafels and Egyptian specialities. The old man is famous in the neighbourhood as his falafels are the best in town.

It’s January 25th 2011. Egyptian people all over the world are glued to satellite tv: Cairo is uprising. What started as a peaceful protest is quickly turning into a massive revolution. Zaki’s son, AMIR, lives and works in Cairo and today he’s joining Tahrir Square demonstrations.

Zaki faces a workday with nervous strain pushed to the limit and worried that something terrible could happen to his son. There’s a revolution going on in Zaki’s world, and arabic tv commentaries report this feeling minute by minute. Around this microcosm, Italy seems to keep living like nothing is happening. Lazy and indifferent people come and go through the door of Zaki’s shop, focused on their little troubles, thoughts, concerns and hopes.
